New Look

I got my hair cut this week. It was pretty spur of the moment but I love it and it is so easy to take care of.

Baby Dedication

Last Sunday was Ruby's baby dedication at church. I don't have any pictures to post yet but I thought I would post what we wrote. Our church puts together a booklet of all the babies who are getting dedicated. The parents write a little something and send in a picture of the baby for the booklet. Here is the picture we sent in and the snipit that we wrote:

Ruby is named after her great great grandmother Ruby and
her great grandmother Eleanor. Both were strong women of faith who
had great influence on the spiritual lives of our families.

From Ruby's premature birth until now, God has been showing us His
faithfulness and provision. He has answered our prayers with a
healthy, strong, and beautiful daughter. We continue to pray that God
would set her feet upon His path.
A verse that has meant a lot to our family since Ruby was born is
Philippians 1:6 (New Living Translation)
"And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will
continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ
Jesus returns."

Cousins

A few weekends ago I went to a baby shower for my cousin's wife, Katie. Here is a pic of my cousins with some of our babies.
From left to right: Katie (cousin's wife), Tanya (cousin's wife) with her little girl Kayla, Jennifer (cousin) with baby purple (her little ones were at home), Christi (cousin's wife, sorry if spelled wrong) with Kaitlynn, Me with Ruby, Heather (sister in law) with Holden, and Jessica (cousin) with Vada. I thought this was a cute picture.

Whole lotta shakin goin on...

That is such a lame heading but I had to write something catchy. We were awakened this morning at 5:37 am by an earthquake here in Kentuckiana. It woke both Brian and I up. I thought it was a big truck driving by but my smart, California born, husband knew exactly what it was and sprang out of bed. He went directly to check on Ruby (like a good daddy) who was sound asleep. It 5.2 on the richter scale and we felt a few after shocks later in the morning. Pretty exciting around here since we usually only have to deal with tornado's this time of year.

Fun with cooking

I couldn't really call myself very domestic in the past. I love cooking however and have been trying new and healthier ways to cook. I mentioned in a previous post that we bought bok choy and didn't know what to do with it. We ended up stir frying it...I am sure you all have been on pins and needles for months waiting to hear that. It was good. Last week we bought a spaghetti squash (which we had never had) and made a spaghetti squash bake with spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese. You all should try this. It is a whole, healthy, and delicious meal. We both enjoyed it. I have also started making Ruby's baby food. So far carrots and avocado. I get to use my new food processor that I got for Christmas to puree the food and freeze it in ice cube trays to use later. I feel very domestic doing this and enjoy knowing exactly what is going into Ruby's belly.

2nd Anniversary

This week we celebrated our 2nd anniversary (April 1st). We celebrated on Friday night by going out to eat and having the Grandparent's watch Ruby overnight for the 1st time. Brian surprised me with an amazingly beautiful ruby and diamond ring and I surprised him with an IPOD Touch. Wow! Needless to say it looks like next year we will just be getting one another cards. :)
