Laffin Family Christmas
Ruby took no time to warm up to Grandma and Granpa during this trip. Grandma had the right idea with the slinky.
John was in charge of keeping Ruby away from the dangerous fireplace while we opened gifts.

Christmas 08
Ruby modeling Mamaw's new hat and scarf. Scroll down to see more pictures from our Faith Family Christmas.
Christmas with the Faith's
We spent Christmas Eve at my parents house with my sister's family. Here are a few highlights:

like my new shoes?
This picture is classic. My sister and nephew when they thought they won thousands of dollars with the lottery ticket my husband gave them. Unfortunately a few seconds later they found out it was fake.
You know you are growing up when you are excited about the blender you get for Christmas

A few updates
Brian won a gift card to Best Buy at his company Christmas party and we are now proud owners of a brand new laptop
Thanks to my friend Kathleen I made this awesome bean soup. I recommend it but not to vegetarians.
*I used some really great turkey bacon that I found at Trader Joe's over the weekend
*I didn't use as much cilantro as they called for either
As of this week Ruby has added a few new words and sounds to her vocabulary "ights" (lights); "a-a-a-a" (baaa...sheep sound); "ahhhhh" (roar...lion sound); "sheet" (seat); papaw; mamaw; and shoe
This weekend a couple of friends and I worked on some homemade Christmas gifts. Thanks to some tips from women at my church we made a chocolate body scrub.

A day at the beach...
Here are a few more California pictures for your enjoyment. Figured they would be nice for those of us that live in cold climate areas.

Rock Star
Our little rock star playing with some shades this week. Joanna, if you are reading this...yes, those are Alex's glasses. :)
What is going on in Laffin Land?
Well, we finally have a new/old computer. Our friend Cori gave us her old one so now i can resume my blogging a little more regularly. Thanks to Cori!
Brian survived an ugly lay off at his work last week. They laid off 21 people and we were so very thankful that God had mercy on our family and Brian still has a job.
Ruby went to her 15 month check up last week and is in the 50th percentile for weight and 25th percentile for height. This is pretty crazy since she was not even on the charts at 8 months because she was so small. She loves to eat so I guess that is paying off.
I don't have any pictures to post right now but soon I will.

Walking
Ruby is now walking more than crawling. She is actually not really crawling much at all. Here is a video from about a month ago when she was first getting the hang of it.

Thanksgiving 08
We spent our Thanksgiving with Brian's family this year. We had a nice time watching Ruby walking everywhere, taking walks with the dogs, playing some games and of course eating turkey.

Brian and his brother John with the dogs (Abby and Luna)
Ruby...possibly a future in the medical field?

Old Friends
During our stay in California we got to have dinner with my old friend from college Shari and her husband and son. It was so wonderful seeing the Kirkpatrick's and having the kids and the husbands meet for the first time.

Happy Thanksgiving
We are currently in Western Kentucky celebrating Thanksgiving with Brian's parents. Here are, however, more pictures from California. These were taken at San Clemente Beach...wish we were there now.
