Snow Days
We were hit with an ice and snow storm here in Louisville this week. We were snowed in for a few days and had a lot of fun indoors and out.

Monday Meal Plan
Monday- We are having dinner with our community group from church. We are having breakfast for dinner and we are bringing Vegan Pumpkin Pancakes
Tuesday- We are having dinner at one of Brian's friends from college so we don't have to cook
Wednesday- Chicken nachos with pinto beans (just making this one up and using Brian's mom's homemade salsa)
Thursday- Lentil and Chicken Stew that i didn't make last week
Friday- leftovers
Saturday- Whole Wheat Spaghetti with chicken
Sunday- Fish tacos using a recipe from my William Sonoma Cookbook
Review from last week: The tomato spinach soup was great although I probably put too much spinach in it. The cod, leek, potato gratin was really good even without the leeks

Ruby loves animals...not only that but she loves making animal noises. The other night I was showing her a short clip from Sesame Street when I heard her meowing from the other room.

Just some thoughts and updates
-Ruby got a visit from her "Auntie" Jessica this weekend. She called her "caca" :)

- So, here are a few of my own reviews about the recipes I have made over the past 2 weeks. We didn't particularly like the penne wise pumpkin dish...not bad just not really our style
We both like the ground chicken sloppy joes and the balsamic chicken with pasta was a big hit as well.
-Brian and I are pushing forward with our old testament reading. Today we read about Jacob and Esau in Genesis 24-26
-I was just starting to think I had it tough with a 16 month old, 7 month old (babysitting), and an annoying dog when I read my friend Jenni's blog. Shew, a 3 year old, 2 year old twins, and a newborn.
-For those of you reading in warmer climates (California and Florida)...it is like 8 degrees here right now. brrrr....i know, some of you reading this from Chicago and Minnesota don't have sympathy for me.
-I turn 30 years old tomorrow.
-4 years ago today a dear friend of mine, Aaron Marrs, died in a crab boat accident off of the coast of Alaska. He was a friend of mine from about 11 years ago and we reconnected in 2003 when I started attending Sojourn. I know many of his friends and family are thinking of and missing him this day

Funny Photo
One of Ruby's new favorite things to do is climb in this bouncy seat that she is way too big for. We have it out because the little baby I babysit uses it. Ruby climbs in this daily (at times saying "mo mo sheet" which means "Moses' seat") and takes a little rest. She is probably close to 24 pounds so it sinks almost completely to the floor.

Monday Meal Plan
Since I got so much positive feedback from posting my meal plan last week, I thought I would do it again. I plan out meals every week I just don't usually think they are interesting enough to post but here goes.
Monday- I am always pressed for time on Monday's because we have community group (small group from church) at our house therefore, i am thawing out the black bean and corn soup that I made last week and froze.
Tuesday- We are having friends over to celebrate their engagement and we are going to make this balsamic chicken and pasta, salad and brownies
Wednesday- meal at church and we are taking a black bean salad
Thursday- leftovers
Friday- Out to eat for my birthday dinner
Saturday- Hopefully we will score another dinner out with my parents to celebrate my birthday. :)

San Diego Zoo
Yes, I am still blogging about our trip to California even though it was over 2 months ago. You wouldn't believe how many pictures we have. We also had such a great time that I want to share it.
Ruby was so ready for a nap before we headed to the zoo but we wouldn't let her have one (so she was sleep in the car for 2 hours). She was in prime meltdown mode until we gave her a paci and turned Baby Einstein on...she sat perfectly still on this couch until it was time to go.
I never get tired of taking pictures with my husband. Thanks to Sharon for fixing my hair that day.
Look at this weird guy. He stood like this for the longest time. It was really kind of creepy.

Who let these guys out of their cages? Okay, that was my husbands corny joke. :)
Check out that huge hippo behind Ruby's head!

Thankful Thursdays
Thankful Thursdays are back...well, at least this week. I am so thankful for two of my dearest and oldest (Angela has been my friend for close to 29 years and Hollie has for close to 20 years) friends Angela and Hollie. We get together about once a month sometimes with kids sometimes without just to make sure that we continue to be involved in each others lives. I am so thankful for their sweet friendship and journeying through life together.

Five Feet High and Rising
We have been playing clips of Sesame Street for Ruby lately and came across this one with Johnny Cash. I thought it was pretty cool so I am sharing it.

Old Testament in 2009

I am super excited about our church working through the Old Testament this year. Our pastors will be teaching each week on different passages and the members have a daily study guide to work through.
I also wanted to share that my church, Sojourn, has a new blog called the Travelblog. This is how my friend Bobby described it:
The name TravelBlog is a play on “Travelogue,” Sojourn’squarterly print journal. “Travelogue” is, in turn, a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church. A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, fromdarkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Like the ancient children of Israel, we tell the story of God’s work in our lives as we travel.
The B.C. Blog
The B.C. Blog is the first of our “blogs within a blog.” LeadPastor Daniel Montgomery is walking us through the Old Testament in 2009, preaching on key Old Testament passages each week. How can we stay centered on Christ if we camp so long in the “Before Christ” part of the Bible? Visit the B.C. blog daily and you’ll find out. Pastor Daniel and other Sojourn leaders will join occasional guest theologians, educators and Old Testament experts in providing constant resources, study aids, thoughts to ponder, questions to ask ourselves, tips for seeing Christ in every corner of the Old Testament and ways to apply these ancient stories to our daily lives.
So, check it out
P.S. I did not take that picture...found it on the internet after I googled my church and it came up....from someone's flicker account.
