Goodbye Great Grandpa
This weekend Ruby and Telia's Great Grandpa and Brian's Grandpa passed away. We are so thankful for the time we got to spend with him in the past 2 years and for the 97 years that he spent on the earth. He never got to meet Telia but I know he enjoyed seeing Ruby the couple of times that he did. Our prayers are with the rest of the family this week in California including his wife as they prepare for the funeral.
This has always been my favorite picture from our trip to California in 2008. He really enjoyed watching how excited Ruby was to see the geese (that she called ducks) and get to feed them.

St. James here we come!
I was inspired by my friend Beth to blog about my favorite part of the autumn season...St. James Art Show! It starts today!
I have been attending since I lived in Old Louisville in 2004...back then I just had to walk out my front door and there were all the wonderful booths of art, crafts, jewelry, and lets not forget the food...homemade pumpkin rolls and apple cider.
****I now need to interrupt this post to report on what my crazy dog just did. She saw a cat out the front door and ran to the window to bark. She hit her head against the window so hard that she broke it. Awesome...stupid dog! ugh.******************
Last year we didn't plan well and I didn't have any money to spend which sucked but this year my wonderful husband put aside some money early on for me to have! I can't wait to see what treasures I find this year.
This is my wonderful husband

We are also going to be introducing the art fair to our good friends, the Schwartz, who are coming down from Chicago.
The Schwartz

I am super excited and I will try to remember to document our day with some pictures. Here is Ruby's first visit to St. James....she was about 1 month old.

Updates
-- We just finished a 6 week class at our church and read the book "Shepherding a Child's Heart." We learned a lot from the other parents in the class.
--Ruby and her cousin Holden hung out today at a neighborhood chilli cookoff.
--Brian and I just started watching "Band of Brothers"
--The weather here in Kentucky is getting a little cooler and I am super excited about the fall. I get to carry around the fall colored purse that my friend Sarah made for me a few months ago. She also made Ruby's dress that she wore to her birthday party.
--Ruby and her cousin Holden hung out today at a neighborhood chilli cookoff.--Ruby went to her 1 year check up and was 18 pounds 11 oz and 28 inches long. She got her first ear infection 2 weeks later and by that time was 19 pounds 8 oz! That is a far cry from her birth weight of 5 pounds 1 oz.
--I started watching a friends 4 month old during the week on this past Tuesday. This is why I haven't blogged very much lately. Little Moses is a great baby and it has been good for Ruby to learn how to share and be kind to him. She really likes having him around. We will be hanging out with Moses until November.

Thankful Thursdays
This Thursday I am thankful for Fridays. Brian has had Friday's off since about June. Due to the high gas prices, his company has given the option of working four 10 hour days with Friday's off. Brian and I love that he is spending more time at home with the family, getting projects around the house done, having an extra "Saturday" and saving some money on gas.
The second picture is of Ruby with her new pj's from Aunt Kim and her new little car toy from Grandma and Grandpa Faith. I added this photo because she is starting to look like more of a little toddler these days rather than a little baby.

Ruby's 1st Birthday Party
This weekend we celebrated Ruby's birthday with friends and family at a park here in Louisville. She did really well and had a great time playing with everyone. I am a little overwhelmed with the amount of pictures I have so I may post a couple of days.
Here are a few of Ruby eating her little carrot cake. She was pretty dainty about it.

Thankful Thursdays
I am thankful for yard sales, thrift stores, and finding a good deal. It is always fun to see what treasures you can find but also I love to see how I can save my family money by finding things used instead of new.
This summer I found these awesome pictures for Ruby's room for just $8
and
Last weekend I found this 1924 Singer Sewing Machine at a yard sale for $20 and it works! Now I just need to learn how to sew!

Thankful Thursdays

I am so thankful that I get to be a stay at home wife/mother. I love being at home with Ruby and being the person who teaches her and takes care of her. I am getting to enjoy keeping the house, cooking and learning to organize. I also love that I have a flexible schedule to spend time with friends and to go with Brian on business trips at the last minute. The daily sacrifices that we make are absolutely worth it to be able to be at home with Ruby. I wouldn't change it for the world.
I would love to hear what you are thankful for today
